How Produced by Nef is Turning Late Night Grind into a Scalable Creative Empire

That porch-side dare in Manchester, NH lit a one-way fuse to New York City. Fast-forward: Grammy-level sessions, sold-out tours, and plaques with artists Nef once studied from a distance.

The Purpose Chasing Story of Produced by Nef:

In 2017 Nef packed up for Brooklyn, slipped into Statik Selektah’s ShowOff orbit, and spent six nights a week hauling gear, answering phones at the radio station, and mopping floors after marathon sessions—an unglamorous apprenticeship that came with priceless mentorship.

He kept quiet that first “fly-on-the-wall” year, absorbing studio etiquette alongside Joey Bada$$ and Bun B, and let his work do the talking. By 2019 the grind paid off: he earned his first vinyl credit as an additional engineer for Statik and Termanology, began releasing records with Dirty Sanchez 47 and Ren Thomas, and learned that plaques matter less than relationships.

When Lil Fame asked in early 2020 what he was working on, Nef blurted “my solo album,” then started Tabula Rasa the next morning. Momentum carried into 2021, when he and Termanology opened Time Is Money Studio, onboarding 93 clients in its first year and building a six-figure service stack during lockdown.

In 2022 he leveled up as tour manager and front-of-house chief for DJ Premier, shepherding equipment (and egos) across 20 countries without a missed flight. Premier returned the favor in 2023, spinning Tabula Rasa weekly on SiriusXM and flooding Nef’s DMs with “How did you pull this off?” The answer arrived in 2024 with the beta launch of The Gentlemen’s Board, a community where Nef now sells beats in his sleep and mentors 50 rising producers.

In 2025 Scale to Sale Consulting came on to make sure Nef's engine was fully bolted on & the SEO foundations were laid

As Nef likes to say, “I spent a year sweeping cigar ashes so I could spend the next twenty sitting at the console.”
