Taylor Welch Interview: Traffic and Funnels, Daily Mind Medicine and Lessons for Service Businesses

May 30, 2025•6 min read

Most people searching for Taylor Welch want three answers: who he is, what Traffic and Funnels was, and what he is doing now.

I interviewed Taylor on The Purpose Chasers, so here is the straight version: the facts, the timeline, what I took from our conversation, and how those lessons apply if you run a coaching, consulting or service business.

Who Is Taylor Welch?

  • Co-founder of Traffic and Funnels with his business partner Chris Evans, a Tennessee based marketing consultancy and training company started in the mid 2010s that taught service businesses how to sell high ticket offers.

  • Copywriter turned consultant. He has said in interviews that his first marketing work was for his wife’s salon business, and that he left his 9 to 5 as the client work grew.

  • Podcast host. He co-hosted The Traffic and Funnels Show with Chris Evans, launched Daily Mind Medicine in 2020, and hosts The Deep End.

  • Today he lists NOVOS Network and Welch Equities among his companies, and writes as The Wealthy Consultant. His official site is taylorawelch.com.

My Interview With Taylor Welch on The Purpose Chasers

Taylor joined me for episode 95 of The Purpose Chasers, “Thinking Big Picture w/ Taylor Welch, Co-Founder of Traffic and Funnels.” The theme of the conversation was simple and it stuck with me: it takes an incredible thought life and skilled decision making to jumpstart your financial success.

I came into that conversation as a guy who had been a therapist for about 10 years before I ever touched marketing. What I heard from Taylor confirmed something I was already seeing in my own business: the owners who win are not the ones with the most tactics. They are the ones who think clearly, decide fast and build systems that do not depend on them.

Taylor Welch Timeline

  • Early career: copywriting and consulting for small businesses.

  • Mid 2010s: co-founds Traffic and Funnels with Chris Evans in Tennessee.

  • 2017 to 2022: co-hosts The Traffic and Funnels Show.

  • 2020: launches the Daily Mind Medicine podcast.

  • 2022: Taylor has said the Traffic and Funnels era businesses, including The Sales Mentor, were shut down by this point.

  • December 2023: the FTC announced settlements with Traffic and Funnels’ founders over earnings claims tied to The Sales Mentor (court docket). Taylor responded publicly that the case focused on older businesses that had already closed and that he disagrees with how the FTC described them (his statement).

  • Today: NOVOS Network, Welch Equities, The Wealthy Consultant and The Deep End podcast.

Did Taylor Welch Found HighLevel? No. Here Is Who Did.

An earlier version of this page mixed Taylor’s story with HighLevel’s, so let me clear it up. Taylor Welch co-founded Traffic and Funnels. HighLevel (GoHighLevel) was founded in 2018 by Shaun Clark, Varun Vairavan and Robin Alex.

I interviewed HighLevel co-founder and CEO Shaun Clark separately on The Purpose Chasers. Read what Shaun told me about building HighLevel for agencies only, or watch the full Shaun Clark episode.

That conversation happened after HighLevel featured me on its own show, Spotlight Sessions, to talk about how I use the platform to help business owners take equity in their market:

3 Lessons From Taylor Welch for Service Businesses

1. Lower the risk, do not crank up the desire

Taylor put it this way on Hustle and Flowchart: “I’m not trying to elicit more desire, I’m trying to mitigate the perceived risk they have in this product.”

This is the whole reason I build marketing on video testimonials. Your prospect already wants the result. What stops them is risk. Nothing lowers risk like a real customer who looks like them saying it worked. That is what The Happy Check is built to capture.

2. Enjoy watering the garden

On The Entrepreneur Way, Taylor said: “You have to enjoy watering the garden, or you’re probably not going to get a good harvest.”

I could not agree more. Organic marketing is a garden. One video testimonial, one blog post, one honest story at a time. I wrote about why most marketers end up back at the grocery store instead of growing their own.

3. Think big picture, then build systems that do not need you

The big picture thinking Taylor and I talked about only pays off when it turns into systems. For me that means every lead, follow up, testimonial request and review request runs inside one platform, so the business keeps moving when I am not in the room.

What That Looks Like for a Real Client

Sarah Jones had wanted to get her business online for a long time and did not know how to start a landing page. We built two full landing pages and every automation in Go HighLevel, then recorded a walkthrough so she was comfortable running it herself. In her words:

"He did a great job and I'll definitely be using him again."
